EPISODE SEVENTEEN
Sholape Point Of View
Oh no! How am I ever going to speak especially when Gaffar is there with them. Oh I’ll have to lower my pace because of him. What’s the point?
I’m already there . Its not like I’m the shy type but there’s this thing that I feel for Gaffar that wouldn’t even make me talk and with him there, I’ll become dumb.
Good afternoon, I said to them they all turned to look at me looking all happy, they all exchanged their greetings except for Adenike who rolled her eyes at me as if the first she did wasn’t enough.
Gaffar was on a call so it made it easier for me to talk. He looked at me briefly. Me being close to him sends a shiver down my spine. Whatever this feeling is, I don’t ever want to stop feeling this way.
“Errrmm Zainab, I forgot my key in the room. I’ve been to the room and I didn’t find you so I decided to look for you”. “Eyah” they all chorused!, except for Adenike and Gaffar, whom I think he’s almost done with his call.
” Can I have yours” I asked Zainab.
“Sure, its no problem” she said.
“Thank you”, I said in return.
She handed me the key, I smiled in return. Just when I was about leaving, Gaffar turned to me with his hand slightly hitting me. He said “sorry” in silence or I thought he did.
I didn’t bother stopping anyway. I kept on moving, I walked so fast as if I was in a race or a competition with someone. I walked so fast till I couldn’t feel their sight on me. The thought of Gaffar came back to me. I think I’m falling in love with him
Gaffar Point Of View
I was on call when this pretty looking girl approached us. I really like her stature, petite with a very nice ass.
I couldn’t concentrate on my call because her face was perfect. She’s very beautiful and speaks good.
I wanted to hang up immediately so I could catch up with her and at least flirt with her but she left before I hanged up , but then I was able to get a perfect view of her ass but the girl isn’t in my calibre of girls.
Her clothes looking all old and big on her. But whatever, she has a nice shape even in her not too obvious clothe .
Adenike Point Of View
“Who’s that pretty girl”, Gaffar asked??
I eyed him immediately.
“She’s our roommate”, we all chorused. “Wow! she’s beautiful” he said.
Just at the hear of this, I felt something deeper than anger for that stupid Sholape girl. I knew her presence was going to change something. God why is this girl like this? why?
I’m going to ruin her life I promise. She can’t just have Every thing. Why will Gaffar even say something like this about Sholape? I already thought she wouldn’t be a threat seems her shape wasn’t that visible in her dress.
Who am I kidding?? Gaffar is a flirt I’m sure he can see even the invisible. Gaffar is sure a flirt with no class I mean Sholape isn’t even in his calibre, talk of money, dress sense, social life, plus she’s too serious but to top it all she’s a freaking virgin, I thought to myself.
“Zainab what’s up now, give me your roommates number”, Gaffar said jokingly.
I knew it wasn’t a joke, Gaffar doesn’t joke with girls talk. I was thinking of a strategy to win his heart but I was too mad at Sholape to even think straight now.
“Gaffar she’s not even in your league and I’m here remember” I said touching the hem of his shirt and giving him a seductive look.
Pushing my small boobs out for him to see what he’s missing yet he just smiled and turned to me saying;
“Adenike you know you’ll end up with those big celebrity” he said jokingly.
I took an offence in that. Gaffar is really blind. Tara interrupts by saying; “seriously Gaffar, Sholape won’t date a guy like you”.
Gaffars look changed from fun to intrigued. I was happy at what Tara said that made Gaffar look that way. I was willing to say something that will spice up what Tara had said.
“Its true Gaffar, Sholape won’t date you plus she’s a virgin”, I added. They all gave me a look as if to say you and your mouth sha.
“You girls can’t be serious right”?? Gaffar asked.
“Yes she’s a virgin”!.
“Is that why you guys said she can’t date me?
Yes, Zainab said infact you guys don’t even fit. I mean look at you and compare yourself to her Zainab said.
I quickly nodded my head as I was in support of all they were saying and they were helping me out in a way they didn’t know.
“Look Gaffar you can’t date her not to talk of getting her to bed”, I said.
He got angry at my statement and said; “are you the one dating me”?? I felt bad that he snapped at me so I quickly thought of another plan so he could be on my good side again.
“Fine, get her to date you and I’ll give you 50 thousand”, I said to Gaffar.
He smiled at me and said; “that ridiculous amount. You’re really testing me”.
I know Gaffar is loaded but I only said that amount to piss him off May be he could change his mind. I don’t want him falling in love with her.
“Look girls, not only will I date her, I’ll also deflower her”, he said.
We all looked at him in surprise and chorused “that’s not possible”. Sholape won’t do that, she’s keeping herself until the night of her wedding Zainab said.
Gaffar bursted into laughter… abeg! abeg! in this century you guys are jesters.
Let’s make a bet. You get her within three months or six at maximum.
He rolled his eyes at us and said “six months is too much. Don’t you girls know me?? I’m Gaffar Owokoniran, I’m G.money”.
We all smiled but still insisted on 6 months. “Do we have a deal” I said.. “if you don’t have her in six months, I’ll get to have you in my bed” I said.
Afterall, that was all I ever wanted. Fucking Gaffar has been my dream.
I turned to my friends saying no one is going to tell Sholape. Although Zainab wasn’t happy with our deal.
“You guys didn’t have to tell him Sholape is a virgin” Zainab said.
“Its not like she’ll agree to Gaffar so its of no use. I trust her” Omotara said.
EPISODE EIGHTEEN
I was having my lunch at the cafeteria when a guy came to sit beside me. I didn’t want to have a look at the person who was sitting beside me because I was too hungry to mind the fact that someone was beside me.
The smell of the person filled the air and it felt like I was eating the fragrance along with my food. I wanted to turn to see who it was, but I’m not good at making eye contact with people.
Clears throat..
” don’t you observe your surrounding”? he asked.
God he sounded rude but his voice sounded sweet. I wanted to look at the face to be sure of where the voice was coming from but I didn’t want to embarrass myself because I had food in my mouth. I think he was getting irritated by my attitude when he said;
“be sure a suicide bomber doesn’t take a sit beside you without you observing”.
I was scared when I heard this so I immediately turned my face saying “what” with food still in my mouth having a surprised look at my face when I noticed that Gaffar has been the guy seating beside me all along.
He was the one whose fragrance filled the air. Gaffar has been watching me eat like a glutton.
Oh my! The only way my wish would have come through is about to be ruined by my foolish attitude.
I should have been nice enough to look at him and act normal maybe he’d consider me. I was about saying “hi” when he pushed his hand forward saying;
“I’m Gaffar”.
I melted at the sight of his teeth c’mon Gaffar who doesn’t know you’re Gaffar? I’m sure heaven knows you’re Gaffar (thoughts) I shook his hand anyway thrusting my shaky hands into his.
Why would Gaffar of all people be sitting with me I thought to myself. As if he was reading my thought,
“don’t worry, I’m not here to hurt you, I just want to be friends with an innocent soul who has a captivating face. Would you mind giving me the pleasure of been friends with you beautiful”? He asked.
I smiled at his use of words. After all, this has been my dream and wish all along ever since Kayode left but I’m sure God sent Gaffer to me as a rebound.
“May I know your name, he asked”?
” I’m Sholape”.
“Wow what a lovely name”, he said.
I smiled and I was about getting up to pay for my bills when he said I’ll handle that. He paid my bills.
I wanted to ask him why he was being nice to me but I just said “thank you”. :You’re going to your hostel right? He asked” ..
“yes” I said.
“Let me drive you down:, he offered.
I wanted to say no but I couldn’t bring my eyes in contact with him not to talk of objecting. I was just too shy that I didn’t even know how to act around him.
“I know with time, you’ll loosen up. I just want to be a friend” he said.
We were walking down to his car when some little girls came to us saying; “please give us money we are hungry”.
I was touched by this and I was about giving them a wad of naira when I realised I didn’t even have enough money. If Gaffar hadn’t paid for my food then I wouldn’t even have nothing but wad of naira notes.
All these was in my thoughts when I realized Gaffar had already given those girls money.
“God will bless you sir, you’ll never lack they say”…
its okay Girls, he replied.
This act of his melted my heart. Does it mean even with all his play boy looks there’s a big part of him who’s loving and caring I thought to myself. I’m sure once we get married he’ll take care of me.
God did I just think that? I smiled at my stupidity. Overall, Gaffar is a good guy with a bad guy looks.
He drove me down to my hostel and we chatted about little things. I was at my hostel gate when I realised I’m suppose to get out of the car.
Hey don’t judge me, is not like I didn’t know. I was just too caught up in the moment and I didn’t want it to end.
“Hey dear”, he said,
I smiled shyly..
” can I get your number at least so we could go on from there”, he said. I was about stating my number when I remembered I didn’t have a phone.
” I don’t have a phone”, I said to him. “What! At this time and year? Really? He said in shock.
I felt embarrassed and I wanted to tell him that not everyone is privileged, bless or lucky like him. But I just kept quiet but I made sure my facial expression did the talking.
Oh I’m sorry he said, don’t worry we’d do something about that. He said with sympathy. I got down of the car while I waited for him to drive out of sight. Once this was done, I stared to dance and scream, God dreams do come true.
Just then my subconscious said to me, won’t you think? Why is Gaffar with you all of a sudden but I ignored her and continued my dance while people were looking at me. I didn’t want my subconscious to ruin my moment.
Next Day
The lectures that day was so tiring, I was famished and I wanted to rush out so I could get something to eat.
I was on my way out when I heard someone shouting my name from the other end. “Sholape, G.money asked me to drive you down” he said.
“Well, I think you got the wrong person because I dont know any one by that name”, I said in return.
He eyed me up and down as if to say “you must be kidding”
” well I was sent here and I’m sure its no mistake” he said in return.
” G.money is Gaffar, he said
I shook my head while he said;” this was exactly how you’ve been described. He told me you were going to be difficult to obey” he said.
I rolled my eyes at him like I don’t even care because I’m so hungry at the moment. He dialled a number and gave the phone to me.
I questioned the phone with my eyes while he said just talk to him please. A husk “hello” came from the other end while I said hello in return “Sholape, this is Gaffar speaking, please go with Harris, he’ll bring you down to where I am”
“how am I suppose to believe its you”? I asked.
“Trust me Sholape”, he said.
I knew I could trust Gaffar but not this jerk so I handed over the phone to him. The drive down to wherever we were heading was quiet while we exchanged weird look.
The good thing was my eyes weren’t covered so at least I could still run for my life if anything dares to happen.
EPISODE NINETEEN
We got to where we were going, I really couldn’t see the name because Harris immediately pulled me out of the car but I could tell it was a public place.
He led me to a long path where we soon reached. The mighty Gaffar had a huge smile, marked on his handsome face.
“Ha G. Money, this girl too dey stubborn” Harris said.”
C’mon” Gaffar said to him while he signalled to Harris to leave. He held me by my arm and took me to a dark place with just dim light, with a pool at the centre and chairs by the sides which has been occupied by not too much couple.
He helped me sit while he sat across me giving me a smile which made me shy. We ordered for our food but before the food got here we had a little bit of Chapman while he told me proud things about himself.
” The pool is beautiful”, I said to him.
He smiled, saying do you want to try it out?
” No, I don’t know how to swim” I said shyly.
“Hey baby, its no big deal, I’ll teach you one of these days”.
The food got to us in no time, we ate, while I told him things about me and every thing I’ve gone through. He felt bad for me and he immediately said; “don’t worry, I’ll be your everything”.
For some reasons, I feel comfortable and relaxed with him. I trust him and I feel this sense of belonging with him.
It was getting really dark, we were about leaving when he pulled me to his face and asked if I’ll be his girlfriend.
I was shocked but I wanted more of that. I smiled and asked him to give me time. He said it was fine by him while we headed to the car.
The drive was filled with loud music while he sang to it and I sang to the little I know. He looked at me with surprise and said “you’ll be fine with me”.
I trusted him more at the thought of that. We soon got to my hostel while he parked in front of the gate.
” Sholape can I get your number now he asked”?.
“I don’t have a phone”, I said.
He looked really surprised.
“Okay we’ll do something about that”, he said.
“Goodnight Gaffar”.
I was having breakfast that Saturday morning when my room mates came inside.
“Hey girl, What’s up”? Zainab said.
“I’ve missed you so much and I wanted to talk to you so bad then I remembered you didn’t have a phone”, she said.
I smiled and gave her a brief hug while I moved to Omotara and Cynthia to give them their hugs too. I was about doing the same to Adenike when I remembered she has seen me as her sworn enemy.
I wanted to give her a hug nevertheless when she said; “na wa o, in this century person no get phone”.
“This is what poverty causes, arrant nonsense”.
I was mad at her statement but I didn’t want to cause a scene so I ignored her and settled down. I thought that was all for the drama when she said;
“I heard you’ve been following G.money around, can’t he get you phone or is he afraid to help your poverty ridden self” she said.
The girls chorused “haba Adenike , that’s too much”.
While Zainab thundered “shut your mouth Adenike, don’t you ever get tired of picking on the poor girl”?
She rolled her eyes and laughed in mockery saying “of course she’s poor and she definitely isn’t in G.money’s league I wonder what he sees in her she said rolling her eyes”.
Oh my God! This is going to be her last straw. I moved closer to her with a daring glance making my eyes come in contact with her and my mouth close to her while she moved back and waved her hands in the air as if to say I have a bad breath.
I didn’t mind her act because I was too pissed to let this go while the other girls looked amazed. I pointed my finger at her saying;
“look Adenike, the fact that you manage to hide under this make up and fake hair doesn’t make you any better.
I wouldn’t be shocked if you don’t know the saying “beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder” because you’re numb skull. As for Gaffar getting me a phone its no big deal, I mean I’m not you who goes around with boys for material stuff.
Well count yourself lucky for having a father who gets you all these stuff I guess if my father was this caring too you won’t say I’m poor. But still I’m grateful to God for what I have.
At least I can stand on my own without depending on my father and men/boys. Next time you want to talk, think twice before spitting nonsense”.
Omotara shouted Jesus while the rest of the girls left their mouth open. Adenike rolled her eyes at me and yelled “whatever” when I was about leaving the room.
It was five o’clock in the evening, Gaffar already knows my schedule and he takes the time to follow them knowing that I don’t have a phone to communicate with.
At times , he waits outside for like an hour or two before I eventually show up due to lack of communication but he knows my time table. Although, we already said we’d meet up by five at the front of my hostel. I rushed out to wait for him.
I’ve missed him so much..I don’t know what this feeling is, but I love it and I want to enjoy it while it lasts and I hope it lasts forever.
He wasn’t there yet so I thought of waiting for him. After 45 minutes I saw his black car coming towards me while he parked right beside of me. He came down while girls gestured at him as usual.
“I’m sorry beautiful, some thing came up” He said.
He came closer trying to hug me while I moved backward. He gave me a look saying you know we are outside right? I concurred while I ran into his arms.
He smells so nice and I like the sound of his heartbeat. I was already drowning in the ocean of his heart when he said
“I’ve a girt for you”.
I immediately came out of his hug when he went to his car. He came back hiding the package at his back while he requested for me to close my eyes.
Oh my what could this be I thought to myself. He said open your eyes he was kneeling right in front of me. Gaffar was causing a scene already……
” Will you”…
oh my! Gaffar wants to propose to me?
