Jay Z Says He Shouldn’t Be Involved In The Roc Nation Logo Lawsuit

Jay Z says he should be removed he Roc Nation logo lawsuit.
Back in May, news surfaced online that Jay Z was being sued for putting his company’s (Roc Nation) logo on a bunch of Major League Baseball apparel. The company suing him, Iconix Brand Group, had purchased the Roc Nation trademark for a whopping $204 million dollars a while back, and therefore controlled the rights to all merchandise with the logo.

Iconix says they never approved Roc Nation to put their logo on the MLB merchandise, and as a result were suing Jay Z, as well as MLB, Roc Nation, New Era, Lids and the San Francisco Giants for all $10 million each. However, Jay Z reportedly says he has nothing to do with this lawsuit.
According to documents which TMZ obtained, Jay Z clapped back at Iconix and told them their beef is with Roc Nation company and not him personally, clarifying their two separate entities. Hov apparently says Iconix hasn’t proven that he was apart of the deal to put the logo on the hats, therefore he should be removed from the lawsuit.
It’s unclear if Hov will get his wish granted or not, but something tells me he’ll come out just fine from this lawsuit when it’s all said and done. We’ll continue to keep you posted moving forward.

This report comes just a couple weeks after Hov was in the headlines for his interest in buying Harvey Weinstein’s company, or stake of it anyways. In case you missed it, rumors were saying that Jay and his famous friends & investors were thinking of purchasing Harvey’s 23% interest in the company. It wouldn’t be that crazy since Jay is already familiar with the production team as he and Harvey served as executive producers on The Kalief Browder Story – a six-episode documentary that chronicles the life of Kalief Browder, a Bronx high school student who was jailed for three years for a crime he did not commit. Jay is also said to have a Trayvon Martin miniseries in the works.
